About Me

I’m a hobbyist photographer from Yorkshire, England. A couple of years ago I picked up a used rangefinder – a Yashica Electro GSN – at a charity shop for £10 . I had a lot fun with this and exploring photography in general. This led to a number of other film purchases, until I progressed up to an Olympus OM1n.

I then got the itch to explore digital. Having done my research (and taken some advice from a colleague), I decided that the best system for me was Olympus’ digital Pen line – Micro 4/3rds. I wanted a capable body that would also be compatible with the collection of film lenses I had built up.

So here I am. I have an Olympus EPL5 and EPL1, that I pair up with a number of adapted, legacy, manual focus lenses. Being British – and a Yorkshireman at that – I’m not fond of spending a lot of money, so my equipment is at the “cheapskate” end of the scale. Perfect for those just dipping in their toe, or for what us Brits would call “tight arses”.

I’ll be posting shots from my body and lens combinations, as well as the occasional tests of new-to-me lenses and gear, any new techniques I’m trying out and just general photography (and perhaps otherwise) thoughts.

I hope you enjoy and please don’t be shy, let me know what you think!.

Matthew.
